Ever wondered what a planned failover looks like in a stretched cluster on Azure Stack HCI?
Wonder no more as I’ve created a little video to show the process.
A bit of detail about the environment:
I built an 8-Node nested Stretched Cluster running Azure Stack HCI 22H2 in a L3 topology over two sites with routed inter-site Storage Replica network. The Live Migration Network was L2.
I deployed a VM with it’s storage on a stretched volume and, for the demo, I switched replication direction, Live Migrated the VM to the other site, and then back again after switching replication direction back.
*Please note that this demo was run on a virtual nested cluster!
TL;DR the VM stayed online throughout the whole process!
